Mental Health Awareness Week 5-15 May 2023
This year’s theme is anxiety. Please read follow the link below for tips and guidance on how to deal with anxiety and where to go for support.
Mindfulness is the ability to be fully present, being aware of what we are doing. Daily practice of mindfulness can help us focus on the present and not be overwhelmed by what is happening around us. We use the Smiling Mind app in school to take a few minutes and focus our students, especially during stressful times to manage stress and anxiety. There have an increase interest in mindfulness activities that focus on mindful walking and mindful eating. As Muslims, we have the best mindfulness activity that we regularly practice at least five times a day. Khushu in our prayers, is the ultimate mindfulness act, where we are focused on one thing, without distraction, being in the moment and fully aware of what we are doing and where we are.
When the prophet peace be upon him told Bilal (ra) to pronounce the adhan (call to prayer), he said, “O Bilal, give us rest with it.
